BSL INTERPRETED PERFORMANCES

During British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreted performances, an interpreter stands to the side of the stage in view of the audience and interprets the words and songs live. We hold off seats to ensure patrons requiring this service have a great view.

These performances are most suitable for Deaf people, those with family members who use British Sign Language and those who have an interest in British Sign Language.

You can view all upcoming shows with BSL Interpreted performances here.

If you would like to book tickets for an upcoming interpreted performance, or request a BSL Interpreter for a future show that is not listed above, please email us at tickets@ipswich.gov.uk

Please let us know if you would like us to keep you updated with new BSL interpreted performances as they are added, and we will update your account.

RELAXED PERFORMANCES

A relaxed performance is a specially adapted show, modified for adults and children who might benefit from a more relaxed environment. Typically, they are for people who have autism or have sensory communication disorders or/and learning difficulties.

Key features of a relaxed performance:

-House lights will remain on for the duration of the performance so that it is not too dark.

-Lighting and sounds levels will be adjusted to softer levels so that the performance is more accessible if you have sensory sensitivities. This will mean loud bangs, flashes, pyrotechnics strobe lighting will be removed from the performance.

-You can make a noise during the show.

-There will be an opportunity to meet the cast behind the characters before the show.

-Auditorium doors will be fixed open for free movement throughout the performance.

-Our Circle Lounge will be available as a ‘chill-out’ space if the performance becomes overwhelming for your child.

ONLINE ACCESS BOOKING

We are currently working with our box office provider to enable online access for patrons requiring the following services:

– Online booking of wheelchair positions
– Online booking of disabled companion / carer seats

If you would like to be informed when this service goes live, please email us at tickets@ipswich.gov.uk
