See how this exciting project came to life.

Following a major Front of House redevelopment, our historic venue has been carefully transformed to better serve today’s audiences, while celebrating the character and heritage that has made the theatre a cultural landmark for nearly a century. Originally opened in 1929, the Regent Theatre has long been at the heart of entertainment in Ipswich. This latest project represents the next step in securing its future, enhancing the experience for everyone who walks through our doors while preserving the iconic Art Deco features that make the building so special.

This project was shaped by feedback from our audiences.

We listened carefully to what mattered most: better accessibility, improved facilities, and more comfortable spaces to spend time before the show and during intervals. The result is a theatre experience that feels smoother, more inclusive and more enjoyable from the moment you arrive. Since reopening over three months ago, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Audiences have embraced the new spaces, with particular praise for the improved facilities, enhanced accessibility, and the balance between modern upgrades and the theatre’s historic charm. The redevelopment has not only improved the visitor experience but also strengthened the Regent’s role as a key cultural destination in Ipswich.

To celebrate the journey, we captured the entire redevelopment process in a timelapse video, showing the incredible work that has taken place behind the scenes.
