REGENT THEATRE

With 90 years of history, East Anglia’s largest theatre remains the beating heart of unmissable live entertainment in Ipswich.

Seating over 1,500 people, this Grade II listed building provides a grand backdrop to a varied programme of comedy, music, dance, musicals and our popular annual pantomime – there’s not a bad seat in the house.

Celebrating 90 years

Monday 4th November 2019 marked 90 years since East Anglia’s largest theatre first opened its doors to the public. Since then, the Regent has hosted many of the world’s most iconic names in music, comedy and theatre including The Beatles, Bon Jovi, U2 and Tina Turner.

Our 90th celebrations began with a very special gala concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and continue into 2020 with a packed programme of shows and events across a variety of genres.

Investing in the next 90 years

The Regent Theatre continues to host an incredible programme of touring shows, West End musicals, big-name comedians and much more. To ensure that the theatre remains at the forefront of Ipswich’s visitor economy for many years to come, we are committed to maintaining and improving the high-quality experience visitors expect.

To help us improve, we are undertaking a significant refurbishment and redevelopment project to our front of house areas. These changes – in direct response to customer feedback – seek to improve our toilet provision, venue accessibility, queues to the bar and restore some of the building’s historic features.

To fund the estimated £3 million cost of the project, we need to introduce a restoration levy of £1.70 on all tickets purchased.
