We’re thrilled to announce a plethora of major productions coming to Ipswich across 2023 and 2024, bringing a taste of the West End to Ipswich.

The new additions to the theatre’s programme include Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical and the reimagined production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s celebrated musical, direct from London. Keep reading to find out more!

 

Blood Brothers: Tuesday 19 to Saturday 23 September 2023
This September, Willy Russell’s Olivier Award-winning musical Blood Brothers returns to the Regent Theatre stage and tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

 

The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

 

The Rocky Horror Show: Monday 2 to Saturday 7 October 2023
Ipswich audiences will head off on an adventure of fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity later this year as the 50th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Show time warps to town on its sell-out international tour.
The show tells the story of two squeaky clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée Janet.

 

When by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion whilst on their way to visit their former college professor, they meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter. Featuring timeless classics including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and the show stopping Time Warp, it’s a show you’ll never forget!

 

Jesus Christ Superstar: Monday 15 to Saturday 20 January 2024
Following several acclaimed and sold-out runs in London, the Olivier Award-winning reimagined production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s celebrated musical Jesus Christ Superstar embarks on a UK tour, including a week in Ipswich in January 2024. The global phenomenon has wowed audiences for decades, and this production was reimagined London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

The show is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’.

 

The Woman in Black: Monday 4 to Saturday 9 March 2024
The legendary production of Susan Hill’s chilling ghost story The Woman in Black comes to Ipswich for the first time, direct from London’s West End, after an incredible 33 year run at the Fortune Theatre. The show brilliantly delivers atmosphere, illusion and horror!

Experience the thrill and excitement of this critically acclaimed international theatre event that has been seen by over 7 million people worldwide and continues to delight and terrify audiences of all generations.

 

Varna International Ballet: Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 February 2024
The critically acclaimed Varna International Ballet returns to the UK in 2024 following a breath-taking debut tour earlier this year. Renowned for its award-winning soloists and magnificent corps de ballet, the company brings three spectacular ballets to the Regent Theatre next February accompanied by a live orchestra.

 

The most famous of fantasy ballet of all, The Nutcracker, is the perfect family treat. As midnight strikes on Christmas Eve, we are swept away to a fairy-tale world where nothing is quite as it seems.

 

Sleeping Beauty is a classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score with stunning choreography, sumptuous costumes and wonderful sets.

 

The greatest romantic ballet of all time, Swan Lake, is brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score. From the impressive splendour of the palace ballroom to the moonlit lake where swans glide in perfect formation, this compelling tale of tragic romance has it all.

Tickets go on pre-sale for groups this Friday (24 March) at 10am, and general sale from 10am on Friday 31 March.
