This is a significant moment for our town and a testament to the creativity, ambition and collaboration that defines Ipswich today.

From our cultural organisations and creative communities to local businesses, educators and residents, this bid reflects a shared belief in the power of culture to shape our future.

Councillor Neil MacDonald, Leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said:

“This is a fantastic moment for Ipswich and a proud one for everyone who has played a role in bringing the bid this far. From our cultural organisations and creative communities to local businesses, vibrant large-scale events, arts and theatre, community groups and Ipswich Town Football Club, the bid reflects a town that believes in the power of culture to shape its future.

Being longlisted is a real vote of confidence in that ambition. We know the competition will be strong, but Ipswich has an extraordinary story to tell and a community ready to be part of it.”

We now look ahead to the next stage which is building a strong, inclusive case and continuing to bring our communities, partners and audiences with us on the journey.
